Join Richard Walter at EXPO before seminars sell out!

I’ve traveled as far as China and the Middle East and as close as the San Fernando Valley to educate audiences on the principles of screenwriting. This is my sixth year as a Screenwriters Expo presenter, grateful to attendees for their consistent star ratings of my presentations. Students trained in our UCLA screenwriting program have won three Best Screenplay Oscar nominations (Benjamin Button, Sideways, and Milk) in the past three years and two Best Screenplay Oscars (Sideways and Milk). For third writer (Benjamin Button) it was his third nomination and would have been his second Oscar. Students from our UCLA program have written ten screenplays for Steven Spielberg including among others Jurassic Park I, II, & III, Indiana Jones II & III, The Terminal, War of the Worlds, & Munich.

In addition to my seminars, the Expo will feature talks and sessions by some of Hollywood’s top working writers like David Milch (Deadwood), John August (Big Fish), Shane Black (Lethal Weapon), Erik Bork (Band of Brothers), Gary Whitta (The Book of Eli), Michael Elliot (Brown Sugar), Bill Marsilii (Déjà vu), Bob DeRosa (Killers), and many others.

The event also features the Golden Pitch Festival, which plays host to 100 production companies, agencies, and management companies (60 of them A-List Level) who are ready and willing to hear your great ideas.

I will be offering three seminars on Saturday, October 9, on topics such as “Three Essential Principles for Creating Worthy Characters”, “Talk is Cheap: Thirteen Principles for Dialogue,” and “Action and Setting–Little Things Mean a Lot”. To register to attend, please click here.

I look forward to seeing you there!
